Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to all lessons booked through mytijarah.co.uk (the "Service"), operated by My Tijarah Ltd, company number 17210223, registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU.

It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. What you pay

At checkout you pay:

  • the Lesson Price set by the Teacher; plus
  • a Service Fee, shown as a separate line item.

Only the Lesson Price is potentially refundable. The Service Fee is non-refundable in all cases, because it covers card-processing costs we incur and cannot recover.

2. Student cancellations

Time before lesson starts What happens
More than 12 hours You receive a Wallet Credit for the Lesson Price by default, or may request a card refund for the Lesson Price. The Service Fee is non-refundable either way.
12 hours or less No credit or refund, unless an exception in section 3 applies.

To cancel, open the booking in your dashboard and click "Cancel". You will be offered a choice between Wallet Credit (the default) and card refund.

2.1 Card refunds

If you choose a card refund, we will process it within 5 business days. The funds typically appear back on your statement within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.

2.2 Wallet Credits

Wallet Credits are credited to your account immediately. They can be applied to any future Booking, expire 12 months after issue, and are non-transferable.

3. Teacher cancellations and no-shows

If a Teacher cancels a Lesson, regardless of timing, you receive a full Wallet Credit for the Lesson Price. You may instead request a card refund for the Lesson Price by contacting support@mytijarah.co.uk.

If a Teacher fails to attend a Lesson without cancelling in advance (a no-show), you receive:

  • a full Wallet Credit for the Lesson Price; plus
  • an additional 25% goodwill Wallet Credit.

The Service Fee remains non-refundable, but the goodwill credit is intended to make you whole.

To report a Teacher no-show, contact us within 48 hours of the Lesson's scheduled start time.

4. Student no-shows

If you do not attend a Lesson you booked, the Lesson stands and is not refunded. You may rebook by booking a new Lesson at the Teacher's published rate.

5. Package bookings

Where you have purchased a Package of Lessons:

  • Cancellation of individual Lessons within the Package follows the same rules as single-Lesson cancellations.
  • Cancellations result in a Wallet Credit (or card refund on request) for the per-Lesson share of the Package price.
  • The Service Fee paid for the Package is non-refundable.

6. Disputes and chargebacks

If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, please contact support@mytijarah.co.uk first. We aim to resolve disputes within 14 days.

Initiating a chargeback through your bank without contacting us is likely to delay resolution and may result in your account being suspended pending the bank's investigation.

Where a chargeback is upheld in your favour and we have already paid the Teacher, we may seek to recover the funds from the Teacher; this does not affect your refund.

7. Your statutory rights

If you are a consumer based in the UK or EU, you have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (or your local equivalent), including a 14-day "cooling-off" right for distance contracts.

Online tutoring is a service. By booking a Lesson, you agree that the service may begin before the end of the cooling-off period. Once a Lesson has been delivered, the cooling-off right no longer applies to that Lesson, but the rest of any Package remains within scope.

Nothing in this Policy affects rights you have that cannot be waived by contract under applicable consumer-protection law.
